Yes. All playthings are a transference of a child's concept of him/herself into the plaything in question. When a child is interacting with a plaything, one can hear the child's transference in it's verbal dialogue. The child will "make" the plaything the object of the fantasy s/he is having.

Most children will endow the plaything with human characteristics and use it as a visual clue to the active fantasy. Watch children use a doll or a car to successfully integrate his or her views concerning when he sees into her own life memory. All cultures do this. This is the reason that a girl child will play with a doll. It reinforces the cultural norms that she sees around her.
