Yellowstone is an amazing vacation spot. It is actually sitting in the culdera of a super volcano so you will see some amazing geological formations. It is also in a mountain area with some of the most beautiful panoramic sights in the world especially the grand Tetons as they rise up out of Jackson's hole. Add to that a huge variety of widlife to enjoy.
Regarding the wild life. They REALLY mean it when they say don't feed the animals but every year someone does and gets seriously injured. They are wild and they can hurt you very quickly. Also if you camp there make sure to keep your food in a quality cooler, locked inside your car. Don't bring it into the tent with you because the animals can smell it and will try to get to it.
Having said all that, Yellowstone is one of my favorite places to visit in the world and I have been all over. It's an amazing place.
