The notion of convergence here is defined as the meeting of different, separate ocean currents.
The Southern Ocean, which is generally marked by 60 degrees S, is fed by the other oceans at that latitude. Because the characteristics of its water -- colder and more dense -- is different from the characteristics of the water of the other oceans, where they meet is considered a convergence.
The Antarctic Convergence is a circle which encircles the area, and is very high in marine productivity. It separates two climates and various marine life.
The Antarctic Convergence was first crossed by Anthony de la Roché in 1675.
Three. Casey (previously Wilkes) , Davis and Mawson.Answer Macquarie Island, although administratively part of Tasmania, is staffed by the Antarctic Division. It is north of the Antarctic Convergence and so is classed as Sub-Antarctic. Heard Island is a former base, inside the convergence zone and so an Antarctic island.

The Antarctic convergence, also known as the Polar Front, describes positions where the cold, north-flowing waters of the Southern Ocean flow under the warmer ocean waters of the South Pacific, the South Atlantic and the South Indian oceans. This is an irregular line that wobbles around 55 degrees S.
