Answer 1: Because the amount of salt in the red sea makes it much more dense its like dropping a sultana in a glass of lemonade then dropping one in porridge Answer 2: There is an extremely high salt composition in the water that makes it more dense, this allows heavier objects to float on its surface. When a liquid is more dense, it means the particles are pact closer together. A better example would be trying to float in water, vs. trying to float in thick cement, the water is flowing and will let a body pass through it, as the cement is more dense it does not let objects pass through it as easily.

It is not impossible, but it is very difficult. The water in the Dead Sea is extremely salty, and has been estimated to be the second saltiest major body of water in the world. Its name is derived from the fact that the water is far too salinated for marine inhabitation. It is nearly impossible to sink in the hypersalinated waters. Visit DeadSeaGuide.com for more info

Drowning in water can occur only if its density is more than that of water.

In the Dead Sea, the concentration of salt is very high, hence the water density is high compared to other places. When a human body falls into the Dead Sea it would float as its density is less than that of water.

You can demonstrate this by taking 2 lemons and two glasses of water.

Place a lemon inside each glass, you'll notice that lemon will drown (sink to the bottom).

Add approximately 10 spoons of salt in one of the glasses. you'll see that lemon starts floating!

you can drown in the dead sea if you want but the concentration of salt is so high that you automatically float therefore you can't drown unless you really want to

What body of water that is so salty that you can not sink?

The Dead Sea is the body of water known for its high salinity levels, which make it nearly impossible to sink. The dense salt content creates greater buoyancy that allows individuals to float easily on the surface.

Where is the dead sea and why don't people sink in it?

The dead sea is not called the dead sea because people sink in it and die, it's called that because there is no water flow, and no creatures swim in it. That is why it is called the dead sea. It doesn't seem to exist, it's like it is dead.

Is there too much salt in the dead sea too drown?

Yes, the Dead Sea is so salty that it is nearly impossible for a person to drown in it. The high salinity makes it extremely buoyant, making it difficult for swimmers to sink below the surface. However, it is still important to be cautious while swimming in the Dead Sea due to other risks such as skin and eye irritation from the high salt content.

Can you sink in the dead sea?

It is rare for people to drown in the Dead Sea - but it does happen sometimes. Because of the extremely high amount of salt in the water, it's impossible to swim (as we know it); if you try, you just kinda bob up to the surface of the water again and float. The water may look clear and clean to swim in, but do not be deceived, and do not jump in and splash around. And do not, under any circumstances, dive in.What causes some of the drownings in the Dead Sea is the panic that results if you get too much water in your eyes (be warned: this burns 'n stings like crazy).

Where on earth you can float and not sink?

The dead sea. The level of salt is so high that it will make it very hard to sink.

What water will you not sink in because of the salt?
