The former owner of Maple Leaf Village, Niagara falls, Ontario, is the builder of the Stevensville castle on House Road. Maple Leaf village operated from the late 1970's to the early 1990's, and then it closed. Some aspects of Maple Leaf Village are incorporated into Casino Niagara. A most surrounds part of the Stevensville castle and you can see this on satellite images today.
Oh honey, that castle on House Rd in Stevensville was built by some rich dude named Bill Harrah back in the 1970s. He probably had more money than sense, but hey, at least he left us with a cool landmark to gawk at. So yeah, Bill Harrah is the mastermind behind that castle - go ahead, snap a selfie in front of it, I won't judge.
there is a family (names are unknown) who are building the castle. they live in a trailer next to the castle. there is junk lining the really long drive way, inlcuding bathtubs and carousels. its very weird. it is still under construction/
Would really like to know more about this castle. The story I heard was that several years ago, the owner who is also a contractor, noted to his wife that he would build her a castle. This castle was to be made with scrap, left over material from his contracting business. From what I've been told, this castle has been under construction for about 20 years. There is a mote around the castle and I am not sure as to where the driveway is. Drove past it recently and it is really something to see.
Ed. The actual address for the home is 1847 Ott Road, Fort Erie. The back of the home faces House Road, and there is a service driveway onto House. When driving by today (07/18/15), there was a mini-excavator working in the front of the house.
Larnach's Castle is on Camp Rd, off Highcliff Rd, on the Otago Peninsula, near Dunedin, in the South Island of New Zealand.
