For the base, concrete was used. The tower is made out of wrought iron which if maintained with a protective layer of paint can last an extremely long time. Glass is used on the first floor of the tower.

Iron used : approximately 7300 tons

Other materials : approximately 2700 tons

Different materials were used to construct the Eiffel Tower. Concrete was used to construct the base and mainly wrought iron for the rest.

The Eiffel Tower was built using puddling iron (more commonly called wrought iron). This was a common material used before steel began to be used for buildings. The original framework of the Statue of Liberty is also made out of puddling iron.

Mainly puddle / wrought iron.

Some non metals were also used.

But NOT STEEL, what most of the modern buildings are made up of.

It actually expands, you know, because of the metal iron parts.
