Sweden is border on the west by the country of Norway and on the northeast by the country of Finland. The Gulf of Bothnia runs along the East coast of Sweden. Southeast of Sweden is the Baltic Sea. To the Southwest are the Danish Straits, the Kattegat/Kattegatt (spelling depends on whether you are Danish or Swedish) and Skagerrak which connect the Baltic Sea to the North Sea
Helsinki, the capital and largest city of Finland, is located in southern Finland on the shore of the Gulf of Finland. The Gulf of Finland is the easternmost arm of the Baltic Sea.
St. Petersburg is the port at the head of the Gulf of Finland. The Gulf of Finland lies between Finland to the north, Estonia to the south, and lies against Russia to the east. It flows into the Baltic Sea on the west.
