motte is the highest mound in the barons area with a tall house or castle called the keep and the bailey is the area below that it like a court yard and leads up to the keep but is protected by the palissade (which is the large tall fence surronding the motte and bailey castle and the drawbrige. this is to keep enemys at bay!!!!!
