Rivers through which part of the Canada-US border runs include: Rainy River, Pigeon River, St Marys River, St Clair River, Detroit River, Niagara River, St Lawrence River, Hall's River, St Francis River, St John River, St Croix River.
Most of the Canadian / U.S. border is not defined by a river.
In the west, it follows the 49th parallel (latitude) from Washington (British Columbia) to Minnesota (Ontario),
then cuts through 4 of the 5 great lakes,
following the St. Lawrence River from the eastern edge of Lake Erie a ways, forming the boundary between New York and Ontario,
and then defining the northern boundaries of Vermont, New Hampshire, and Maine, separating them from Quebec and New Brunswick,
until it reaches the Atlantic Ocean. Fun Facts:
- the only Great Lake NOT bisected by the Canadian/U.S. border? Lake Michigan
- I'd venture most Americans do NOT know that Toronto is further south than Minneapolis, and further south than the entire states of North Dakota, Montana, and Washington.

Both the Niagara River and the St. Lawrence River separate Ontario from the state of New York. The Niagara connects Lake Erie to Lake Ontario, and the St. Lawrence flows from Lake Ontario and then through Quebec and the Gulf of St. Lawrence to the Atlantic Ocean.
