The difference between a pond and a lake isn't just in their overal size. Lakes have what we call "thermoclines". A thermocline is a what separates the top and bottom of a lake. It involves a rapid change in temperature between to layers.(sometimes things lakes have the word pond in their name so dont get confused)For example:Have you ever gone swimming in a lake during the summer? In the summer, the top part (also called the epilimnion) of the lake is warm(ish) and the bottom part (also called the hypolimnion) is cold.In the winter, the bottom part of the lake is warm (or above 0ºc) and the top is cold.

The wave height in physics is referred to as the amplitude of the wave. It represents the maximum displacement of a wave from its equilibrium position. Amplitude is a fundamental characteristic used to describe various types of waves, including electromagnetic waves, sound waves, and water waves.
Aquatic life is possible in a frozen pond because only the top of the pond is frozen. The fish live down at the pond bottom, where it is warmer than the top.
Thompson Lake, Lake Thompson or I've even seen it as Thompson Pond on original settlers maps is historically rated as one of the top ten clearest lakes in Maine. Water clearity scales can be found on State of Maine web sites.
