It's technically a national certification, based on the fact that many different states across the country recognize it as a valid and accredited certifying agency. But, you should really check with your local employers, as the ultimate goal of getting the certification is to be get a job afterwards. If 3 out of the top 4 employers you want to work for all say they recognize it, you're probably golden since the organization has been growing larger and larger, gaining more and more credibility in the industry over the past 24 years. It's bound to grab the attention of that 4th employer in your area by the time you'd need a job there.
