It can take anything up to about 30 days to reach the summit from Base Camp. You climb to different camps, sleep there and then come back down before going up to the next camp. You repeat this to acclimatize.

To get to Mount Everest from England you would need to fly to Kathmandu then take a plane from there to Lukla. From here you would have to trek/walk to Base Camp.
