The gherkin building - 30 St Mary Axe - was designed by Norman Foster and constructed between 2001 and 2003 on the site of the old Baltic Exchange which had been severely damaged some years earlier by an IRA terrorist bomb. The building was occupied in 2004.

∙ 12y agoOn the 23rd of August 2000 Swiss Re got permission to built the Gherkin.
In 2001 they start to built and they finished in 2003. It was officialy opened on 28th of April 2004.
