the Niger river valley was fertileand in a good position to control trade from North Africa and eurpe to the rest of Africa. Also in the Niger River Valley empires were able to expand and conquer many other empires in that area.
People could farm, hunt, and gather berries. The people that lived there were nomadic so they followed the food source. A group known as the Bantu became farmers. They hunted, herded, and gathered. They also learned how make weapons and tools.
The Bantu were on the move with their growing empire. This is called the Bantu migration. They conquered other lands and intermarried. The Bantu culture spread through Africa very quickly and became the building block for African culture.
