These include: * John MacDouall Stuart (only crossed the very eastern edge of Great Victoria) * Peter Warburton (ventured more through the Great Sandy Desert, but just skirted the very northern end) * Earnest Giles (crossed the desert twice, successfully, after several unsuccessful attempts) * John Forrest (who later went on to become Premier of Western Australia) * William Gosse (the man who first sighted Uluru/Ayers Rock far off in the distance)
