Currents are caused by three different things: the sun, the moon, and the wind. A large lake could definitely have currents. There can also be differences in heat, salinity, and density, which can move the water around, as well.However, they might not as be as strong since it is a smaller body of water.

No. Unlike the ocean which has tides, which cause undercurrents called undertow, lakes have no tides.
