Appalachian State no longer has a varsity swim team, due to lack of funding. However they do have a competitive swim club and they are an official member of the Appalachian Club Sports on campus. They travel all around the country to compete against other collegiate swim clubs and travel to Georgia Tech every year to swim at the East Coast Championships, where over 40 swim clubs attend.

Note: This question was asked 9/11/2007 after Appalachian State defeated Michigan in the first game of the 2007 season. Appalachian State was the Division 1-AA national champion in the 2005 and 2006 season. Most of their team is back for the 2007 season. They are a very, very good football team. Michigan lost many seniors from last year's team. Not only did they lose to Appalachian State at home but the next week they were blown out at home by the University of Oregon, 39-7. I would say that, yes, Appalachian State is really that good and, conversely, Michigan has some serious problems that need to be corrected for them to salvage a winning season.
Why do some schools don't allow swim team?
some kids can not swim but it still would be a good thing for them to learn and some schools do not have even money for a swim team. If we have an obease state you should put do what you have to do if you dont want an obease state.
