It is called "Alton Towers" because the Alton Towers Resort has "Towers" which I think were built in 1980 when the Resort was first opened and the "Alton" Towers Resort is located in Alton, Stoke-on-Trent.
Nemesis is a Rollercoaster in Alton Towers which is located in the Forbidden Valley. This intense ride takes you over rivers of blood and rock, reaching G-forces greater than a space shuttle launch. It was first opened on the 19th March 1994 and cost £10,000,000.
Whilst the ride experience of both rides is somewhat similar, (in that they are both 'inverted sit down' roller-coasters), there are several differences in the ride layout making them very different rides in reality. Nemesis Inferno at Thorpe Park is simply based on the popular Nemesis at Alton Towers's theme.
John Wardley designed nemesis, oblivion, dule and 13 at Alton towers!
Yes it is and one of Europe's biggest Theme parks aswell. Alton Towers also has up to 3,000 or more visitors a day. It holds Oblivion (Europe's first vertical drop rollercoaster) and Nemesis (Europe's first inverted rollercoaster).
