Without zoo's injured animals would not have as many places to be rehabbed. Most zoo (from reputable zoos) animals come from other zoos or are injured and cannot survive in the wild. Zoo's also find ways to breed endangered animals by capturing and studying the animals. Breading them and releasing them back into their environment. Zoo's also educate the public on animal welfare and conservation.

Yes. They do conservation work, study species, and through them we are able to gain information about animals. A good example of this is there is a scientist who is studying the hippo because they have a gel on their skin that protects them from burning. In the wild it is hard to collect samples of the gel to study because the hippo is fairly aggressive and protects its territory. So, he came to our zoo and got samples from the hippo there. This is a way zoos help and are valuable.

Also, some zoos have not treated animals well, leading them to feel stressed and suffer from diseases. but on the other hand, many zookeepers point out that certain animals are endangered in the wild, and living at a well-maintained and spacious zoo actually helps to preserve those species and keeps them safe for the next generation. These zoos also see their role as educational, teaching young people about various kinds of creatures and allowing visitors to observe these creatures as they grow, mate, and raise young of their own.
