first are you getting check engine light ?

if not first thing i would do is replace air filter.

next look at sprk plugs, look especially for spark plug tubes to be full of oil,if so replace valve cover gasket and replace spark plugs and wires.

Check fuel filter too.

if check engine light ,find what is the code and start working from code .Could be TPS sensor,etc.....

If a car is sputtering at high RPMs, the fuel pressure needs to be checked. If the fuel pump can't keep up, this will cause sputtering. Also, the car should be checked to make sure the valves are adjusted properly.

You can watch this animation to understand the principles of sputtering and especially magnetron sputtering. The main difference between magnetron sputtering and other sputtering methods is the application of magnetic filed around the target in order to energize argon atoms for bombarding the target. Using magnetic field leads to trapping electrons in the magnetic filed created around the target which enhances plasma. This results in higher ionization of Argon atoms and bombarding rate that finally increases deposition rate. http://www.heraeus-targets.com/en/technology/_sputteringbasics/sputtering.aspx

One reason why your 1994 Nissan Altima could be sputtering at an idle is because of your spark plugs. It could also be caused by the idle sensor.

If it is still sputtering, it is important that you take it to a mechanic to have it checked.
It is possible that you did not change it well. Take it to a professional mechanic if you are not one.

Sputtering is a process where atoms are dislodged from a solid target material due to bombardment by charged particles, such as ions or electrons. This leads to the deposition of these atoms onto a substrate, creating a thin film coating. Sputtering is widely used in semiconductor manufacturing, thin film deposition, and surface modification processes.

Often a faucet will sputter if there is air in the lines. This happens if the water has been turned off and then on again. If this is the cause, it is only necessary to run the water a while and the air will get out of the lines, and the sputtering will stop.

Your pressure washer sounds as if it has an air lock. You need to run your pressure washer, full blast, and aim it towards the sky until the sputtering stops. That should take care of this problem.

If your 1994 Honda Civic is sputtering, it may be due to a clogged fuel line. Another possible cause is that one of the pistons isn't firing correctly. A tune up might be in order.

Water sputtering is caused by air trapped in the water pipes, which creates bursts of air and water when the faucet is turned on. To prevent water sputtering, you can try bleeding the air out of the pipes by turning on the faucet and letting the water run for a few minutes. Additionally, regular maintenance of the plumbing system can help prevent air from getting trapped in the pipes.

When you are accelerating and your vehicle is sputtering, it is usually a misfire in the engine. Meaning one of your spark plugs or wires is malfunctioning. A simple tune up will fix this problem. Sputtering caused by a misfire is usually accompanied by a jerking of the vehicle when Idle. IF you are at a stop sign and you let go of the brakes, your vehicle will start jerking forward on its own without pressing the gas. try a tune up.
