Your freedom to swing your fist ends at some point before it arrives at my nose. If you choose to smoke in the workplace or other public places, the other people do not have a choice. They pay the price of putting up with your smoke in order to be there, while you pay nothing. Now who has lost their freedom?

What do you think about smoking bans?
Being a smoker, of course I'm not crazy about the bans, but I acknowledge that second hand smoke is not a good thing. I think its stupid though that smoking should be banned in certain public places where other activity is going on that is just as, shall we say, just as unhealthy as smoking, ie. casinos, bars, bingo halls, and certain places of work. I also think its sad that people who attend AA meetings in public places can't smoke. Its hard enough to get off the bottle without having to NOT smoke. Also, I think cigarette smokers dug their own grave on these civic bans. We have had plenty of chances to speak our minds to public officials and get fair treatment, but I think we all shrugged our shoulders and said the non-smokers would win. I sell cigarettes at my job, and I know there are a lot of smokers out there. We will criticize the bans, but its our own fault.
