Satellite cable has taken over the television industry simply because it offers so many benefits over regular Cable Television for a lower price in most situations. Research has shown that satellite cable is people's preference because they can get more channels. However, there are numerous other benefits.
For starters, satellite cable is available to those that live in remote areas. Many times cable is only available to those that live within city limits, which leaves those that live out in the country to have the options of using an antenna and converter box will usually only gives them a handful of channels. Since television is usually the main source of entertainment for families, a handful of channels just does not cut it. Thus, they turn to satellite cable.
Many people who are on the fence about getting satellite cable often worry about the price. However, most of the big satellite companies offer such deep discounts to first time customers that it is cheaper for them than having to purchase an antenna then a converter box. For example, the satellite dish will be free as well as the installation and the satellite box for a specific number of rooms. With the converter box costing on average of fifty dollars, setting up three rooms for television would cost one hundred and fifty dollars. This is money that could be saved by going with satellite cable.
Another huge benefit of satellite cable is that the cost per month is set for a certain time period that you sign your contract. Most of those who have regular cable often complain that month after month the price seems to increase. For those that sign a year or two year contract with satellite, which is the normal amount of time that have that price assurance for that time period. After that period they can usually have the same price, depending upon the type of programming that they have.
For those that move frequently, cable just does not match satellite. Most satellite companies will transfer your new service to your new home and have someone come out free of charge and install the service. This is something that cable does not offer, which is one of the major downfalls of choosing cable over satellite.
Overall, for the price and the number of channels that you receive with satellite cable, it is no contest between the two services.
Cable TV doesn't use Satellites. They are two different services. Cable TV is a digital service where you get the services by using a cable installed by your cable tv provider in your area. The Satellite TV is the strong competition of Cable TV. It needs a satellite dish and a satellite to receive digital-TV signals from the providers. On the link provided, you will see the comparison of Satellite TV and Cable TV and why Satellite TV is the superior on both services.EDIT: Cable-TV does use satellites - but only to bring in the signal from other countries. It's fed to distribution equipment, which sends it down the cable to individual homes. For example - I have cable-TV supplied by Virgin Media - they broadcast content from other countries supplied to them by satellites (eg. SKY 1 which is an American broadcaster), and they send it down a cable to my home. Snakester1962 (Supervisor)
The benefits of cable over satellite is mainly the contract. With cable you are not forced to sign a 1 or two year contract to be able to watch tv. You will not have wires hanging all around your home with cable which can be annoying. Another thing is you can watch the same cable in many different rooms without having to rent additional cable boxes for other tvs. For cable television, you need only the cable box to connect the coaxial cable from the wall to your television. With satellite television, you need the receiver as well as the dish. Cable television will generally continue to be viewable during inclement weather, while satellite television will often go out during storms. With satellite television, you may periodically need to replace or reset the dish, as it can be knocked from its position or damaged.
You can find reviews of cable and satellite TV providers on All Connect, Find Cable Providers, Cable Providers, Best Buy and White Fence websites. Things to consider are contract length, price and programming options.
satellite, you can steal it... lol cable is probably
Cable T.V is less likely to go out during a storm or heavy cloud cover. Satellite T.V. does not always get the best recepetion, while cable T.V. will work rain or shine.
I can only tell you to try Comcast, Verizon and cox for when it comes to cheap cable TV. Those places are what is in my thoughts for cable. That is the direction I would go.
Satellite TV is a very good thing to do if you want a lot of channels because they offer that and most of the time cheaper in price than Cable.
The only advantage that satellite internet has over cable, is that in certain locations where cable is unavailable, usually satellite will provide television services.
Live satellite may be cheaper, but often you have to pay for more receivers. Depending on the number of television sets you have, it may be much less expensive. You can get pay-per-view television more easily on satellite.
It is often a good idea to go with satellite television over some of the cable options that are available. When you do this, you are going to be able to save money in your monthly budget. While there are some drawbacks to satellite tv, the savings cannot be matched. If you are a homeowner who is just getting your start, you are going to need all the money that you can possibly get, and you are therefore going to want to get satellite tv rather than other options that are available. The use of satellite tv will be good enough for you until you are able to afford other options.
The difference between satellite tv service and cable is satellite tv offers more channels and are more expenisve. No, they don't receive their signals from a satellite.
Satellite TV is better only in some cases. It is better in areas that have no cable service or have very limited cable selection. In some major areas with cable carrier competition, satellite is actually more expensive than cable. Satellite TV is a great choice for those in rural areas. This is because cable has a limited reach because of isntallition issues.
