1. Get remote in known working range and push both the lock & unlock bottons at the same time- this will reset the unit. 2.Replace the battery in the remote. Your local radio shack should be able to assist.Repeat step one. 3. New battery - remote still not working - open unit and remove battery even if you didn't install it, you should have watched your Radio Shack guy do it. Proceed with cleaning your remote with Q-tips and rubbing alcohol. Use dielectric grease and apply to o-ring seals very very lightly if handy otherwise never mind. Now reassemble and repeat step 1. 4. It may be time for a new remote entry unit. Shop around, you can usually get an alarm system for your truck with the remote entry unit for just a fraction more than a replacement unit which is dealer only at this time. GOOD LUCK == == Also, if you have installed or had installed any type of window tint, this frequently interferes with remote entry systems and gps receivers. They make a high end type of tint known as ceramic tint which causes no interference, but it is very pricey and is not worth the initial buy. Hope this helps!

I do not know, I have a 1999 and mine quit just about two months ago, I have replaced the battery and that didn't help, maybe you should try your battery though. I will probably just order a new keyless entry.

Look around the tailgate jams or dealership with your VIN #.
Thanks to no help from Chrysler or Dodge....I ended up figuring this one out for myself. I hope this will help you out. Start your Durango and leave it running for about two minutes. Once you do this, press both the lock and unlock button on your keyless entry (key fob) and do this three times, each time holding it pressed down for about two seconds each time. After this, your keyless entry should be reset and working. This had to be done on my Durango after I changed my battery.

let it be known that if you have stock keyless entry on a 96-98 civc ex that disconnecting the radio will disconnect the dome lights and your keyless entry. YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO USE THEM UNLESS you keep the old raio connectd and splice the new radio into the wires. go to installdr.com and they can help you
Is that the only problem? Chimes, dome, map, courtesy, keyless entry... all fine?
bad sensor module, cost you around $400.
