Annapurnanand (21st Sept. 1895 - 4th Dec. 1962 ) was a known Hiindi poet , novelist ,and story-writer of the first half of the 20th century . His works and style of writing were widely recognized by his contemporary giants of Hindi literature . But for many known unknown reasons this varstile author was forgotten in later literary world . In Varanasi , some of the known elite persons gave outstanding contribution in reestablishing the relevance of his writings . Sapana Singh has done the first ever Ph.D. on "Annapurnanand ke Sahitya Samsar ka Samikshatmak Adhyayan" (2011), from VBS Purvanchal University, Jaunpur . Later on Dr. Sapana Singh got a book published to her credit by editing important writings of some 40 known learned personalities under the title " Parakhi Nazron men Annapurnanand " (Kshitij Publication , Varanasi ,ISBN: 978-81-88863-32-7) . Annapurnanand Sahitya Samsthan (Varanasi) has the initial credit in mobolising the learned authors to come forward and evaluate the writings in seminars organised in 1990s . Dr Sapana Singh is credited certainly to restablish this almost forgotten humourist in Hindi literature by doing marvellously inspiring research in Hindi literature .

Annapurnanand was three brothers , eldest Sampurnanand was Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh , and later on Governor of Rajasthan ; youngest Paripurnanand was a known scholar of Criminology . Smt. Janak Dulari was wife of Annapurnanand . Vishwa Vidyalaya Prakashan , Varanasi , has published a book entitled " Annapurnanand Rachanawali " which contains majority of his stories , poems , some letters etc . However , Annapurnanand Sahitya Samsthan , Varanasi , which labored hard to collect and preserve the documents of Annapurnanand deserves real credit to revive the memories of the Great Humorist who was named parallel to Mark Twain and Woodhouse of the West .

Annapurnanand is the first humorist who introduced a style of his own in the field of Hindi literature . Dr. Sapana Singh (jairam.singh08@gmail.com) has now come out with her second assigned book " ANNAPURNANAND KA SAHITYA SAMSAR ", ( ISSN : 978-81-88863-47-1 ) Varanasi ,2013 . Foreworded by Prof. A. Pradhan of the Banaras Hindu University , and wished and blessed by eminent scholars of International Hindi University of Wardha , and other scholars as well this book successfully traces the history and relevance of Humour and Satire in literature along with presentation of Life and achievements of Annapurnanand ji .

Recently Dr. Sapana Singh was invited as guest speaker on Annapurnanand by the Wardha Central Hindi University , in April 2013 . Audience of the House were spell bound to know as how this learned author remained unheeded so long . Dr. Sapana has a design to publish five books on Annapurnand ji , covering almost all literary and para-literary aspects of Annapurnanand ji .

Very shortly her third book is expected dealing with the contribution of Annapurnanand ji in the field of Journalism .
