The Talkomatic, the first online chat system, was created in 1973 by Doug Brown and David R. Woolley at the University of Illinois. The first dedicated chat service available to the public was created by Alexander Trevor in 1980.
Chatting has been around for nearly as long as the internet. The first real "chatting" was using a BBS. The first real time"chatting" that I know of was using a protocol called IRC, or Internet Relay Chat. It worked by having numerous channels, and when one person wrote something, everybody in that channel could see it right away.
IRC is still around, and is actually quite powerful once you learn all the commands.
I doubt there is, Chat rooms are used mostly for teens and adults
fmtm
yes
Well I don't know if your asking if we agree or disagree for chat rooms for 12 year olds but i agree just as long as there moderated by some adult.
I appreciate one auxiliary benefit; Chat rooms direct and connect all those chatty people be they will have chatted out all those inconsequential topics and have something more meaning to say to me.
nope!
yes
no because people will pretend to be someone there not
i think so em yeah
well, you can chat to people on stardoll and do a suite chat that looks like it is in 3d,but for people that is 13 and over can go on IMVU
Chat rooms are unsfae for many reasons. Firtst of all, you can never really know who you're talking too. They can say that they are a 10 year old girl when they are a 54 year old man. And when you tell people info about yourself, they could use it against you. Maybe Blackmail, or worse. When you are in chat rooms, you have to be carful. Not to say where you live/work and stuff.
its right next to the 40 year old pedophile chat room
