My guess the various variations on the Scrooge theme, including (It"s a Wonderful Life) which more or less inverts the Scrooge premise, instead of a conceited profitable businesman ( Ebenezer) the Banker character in (Wonderful Life) is contemplating suicide. the angels ( not ghosts) talk him out of it. stupid plot.
