If your toilet isn't flushing when you push pull or flip the flusher there are the causes.

  • Check your water shutoff valve.
  • Open the reservoir lid and see that the chain is attached to the float stopper and flush lever.
  • Make sure water exists in the reservoir under the same lid.
  • Check to be sure you didn't clog up the output. But Then you might be asking, why is my toilet overflowing?

It may just need a new flapper valve, or it may be plugged up. Try flapper first it's easier.

Replace the flush valve or there is something buggered in the stop. Try opening the handle from the stop some more, if this doesn't help, you need to replace the flush valve in the tank.

What would cause your basement toilet to require 3-4 flushes to empty its contents?

it is below grown level have you checked the level of water in the bowl?if it is not up to maximum level the toilet will not flush properly to check that , fill the bowl slowly with water using a bucket or some other container until the level stops rising then mark this level with a pencil . then flush the toilet and let it refill if the level in the bowl is not up to the pencil mark you need to adjust the fill tube flow . there are two screws on top of the valve one for the tank level and the other for the bowl level good luck

Toilet installed in basement after flushing water in bowl fills but then slowly drains out. There are no leaks and tank is full and seemingly works fine. Need to know how to vent or is it simpler?

A toilet bowl which slowly empties itself after filling indicates either a downstream stoppage or a defective bowl.

Can I use non chlorine bleach for toilet stain?

Yes, this does work rather well, however, you need to ensure that the water is very hot before adding oxyclean to the toilet. I generally pre-warm the toilet bowl slowly by adding several buckets of hot water to the bowl over about a 15 minute time period.

Why would you replace a toilet flush valve?

You would replace a flush valve or 'flapper' when it gets distorted or leaks slowly as they all eventually do. Take it out and go to Home Depot and you will see many better ones than there were when your toilet was made. Average cost $6-10.

Your toilet bubbles when flushing and drains slowly?

Toilets that bubble when flushed and drain slowly can be cause by different things, such as port holes that are clogged, a clogged drain line, the tank has a low water level, or a problem in the vent pipe. A plumber can check for the specific problem and fix it.
