I think its just plain dangerous. People get hurt all the time from texting while driving. I heard this one story about a man who was texting on his phone while driving. He looks up after answering a text, and sees he is too late as he crashes into a family walking across the street. He felt horrible and so upset. Turns out, the family wasn't completely together. I believe it was a mom and two kids. The father, i think was either away or at home. When he found out, he was extremely saddened but he did not sue the man. Instead he cared for him and treated him like a long lost friend and acted like it never happened and that the man had never done anything.

I do believe that this story is completely true but i may have exaggerated a little bit of it. This goes to show that texting while driving is bad and very dangerous. But this is just my opinion. I would love to hear other people's thoughts.

I am surprised the driver was not prosecuted - well, you don't say he was. In many countries including the UK, and at least some US states, such behaviour is ILLEGAL - the incident described shows why!

No. Texting while driving is now illegal in many places. The reason for this law is that while you are sending and receiving text messages you are not concentrating on the road and traffic in front of you. While you are not watching the road and traffic you thereby dramatically increase the likelihood of hitting someone or something.

is txting as important as a little girls life or a mother of three or maybe a father and son on there way back from the park when you txt and drive you put you cell phone b-4 the lifes of others..its not worthit and you never know whos life you might just snatch before there time..hell it could be your mom or little sister who was getting droped off after a sleepover who knows who wants to know

So many deaths and accidents have occurred due to phone use (texting, and calls), that many governments are now considering treating this crime with the same aggression and sentencing as alcohol and drug violations. Police now routinely check mobile phone records to confirm whether text messages were being sent or checked and whether calls were in progress, either by speaking or listening.

The safest step for everyone is to pull over if you must. Otherwise, wait until you arrive at your destination.
