pipe is measured up 12 inchs I.D. inside 12 and above are measured by O.D.if you measure 10" pipe you measure it from inside..12" and above measure from outside diametor

The primary difference between pipe and tubing is how the size is designated. Pipe is designated by a "Nominal Pipe Size" based upon the ID (inside diameter) of the most common wall thickness.
