1mbps = 1000kbps (Kilobit (kbit/s or kb/s or kbps)

1MBps = 1024kBps (Kilobyte (kB/s or kBps))

8 kb (Kilobit) = 1MB (MegaByte)

B = Byte, b = Bit.

54Mbps or mbps is 54000kbps

Very fast

True. 54 or above is not bad but it sounds like you have 802.11n wifi standard. Check the speed at midnight or when you think there is little traffic. Right now I get 72.2 and it is about noon on a Sunday.

54 Mbps is faster (5.4x faster). 1 Mbps means 1 megabit (.125 megabytes, or 125,000 characters of information) can be transfered in one second. I've got 15Mbps, and I never have to wait for pages to load. As long as your connection is measured in Mbps (not Kbps), it will be plenty fast.

Nominally, 72 Mbps is faster then 54 Mbps. Mbps stands for megabits per second; 72 Mbps means more data per second it means if you want to download something from internet at this speed it will take less time to complete download then at 54 Mbps.

However, true speed and nominal speed can be different depending on the media, time, network path traversed and many other factors. For example, you might be able to download a piece of data from site A faster much than form site B, even if you access A on a nominal slower 54Mbps channel.

Nominal speed, especially with technologies such as wireless networking, often means no more than a theoretical maximum. The true throughput figures are generally lower and vary over a wide range.

(Note it is Mbps. A lower-case m stands for milli, or 1/1000.)

54 mbps is alot faster than 7.2 mbps. It downloads web pages a little over 7 times faster! Mbps = Mega bites per second.

54.0 Mbps is a not good speed because today every person want to try speed downloading. but in sense of general speed it is very fast because it is too fast speed for everyone
