* Since the 1950's on, the family unit who once use to listen to the odd program on the radio were all grouped around the black and white TV set for the evening entertainment. Then came early morning Cartoons and the children in the family would watch one cartoon after the other. If the parents were wise and diligent they would have shut off the TV and made their children play outside, but, TV became 'the great babysitter.' People can watch too much TV and some individuals are in a complete daze and unaware of their surroundings so, of course, they are not communicating with family members. Many of the TV programs of today are filled with sex, murder, violence and Horror and life can be depressing enough at times without adding this to their venue. The new monster in the home is the internet! People can spend hours on the Internet sending emails; on MySpace; FaceBook; joining forums; chatlines, etc., and they suddenly find themselves unattached to reality. Some people can become void of feeling, robotic in nature because they have missed the changes in our fast paced lifestyles. TV can have some great programs that education you such as documentaries re wildlife to a large array of subjects and the Internet is a wonderful tool if used correctly. Along came Blackberries; Ipod; etc., and people have even become more disconnected from the reality of life. Between TV and the Internet thousands of people get hooked and become lazy socially and it's a complete chain reaction to getting out in life and living life instead of watching mainly mindless programs on TV or sitting for hours behind the computer. For the mostpart the family unit is almost dissolved. These new technologies can be a wonderful use, but, it's up to the individual to know when a 'little is a lot.' Watch TV, be on the Internet, talk on their cells occasionally, but get out in life and see the wonders that are there for anyone to see because life passes by very quickly. Family is extremely important as a whole and if it's fragmenting it's because no one has bothered to try to put the pieces back together by turning off the TV, computer or cells and actually sitting down together; communicating; laughing, joking around; doing things together and these lead to some beautiful memories to hold onto throughout your life. It takes one person in every family to get the ball rolling.

How does technology refer to communication?

Technology is communication.First, phones have been used for communication for a long time. Although they have been upgraded into wireless phones, and then became a device of more functions than just communicating, communication has and always will be the main purpose of a phone.Second, a computer/laptop can be used for communication. Even though they weren't made initially to communicate, more for calculations, advances in technology, including the creation of the Internet, has made communication quick and easy through a computer/laptop.Third, television is a great way to communicate. Not that it is easy (or possible, for that matter) to just turn on your television and start talking to your friends, but if a serious alert has to be broadcast, such as a weather emergency, the TV is a simple way to get updated.Other technology used for communication include the radio, satellite, and the outdated phonograph. Most technology is used for communication, so communication and technology go hand in hand.
