If it is a Monticello Lav, you should be able to grab it with pliers and pull it out. Make sure you pull it smooth and straight.
If it is a shower faucet, do the same thing, just be sure you are careful and do not rip the shower valve out of the wall.
Just did one of those today, WITH a diverter stem!
The inside part of a Moen faucet / shower body
I believe that is 5/32.
Did you flush out the valve body prior to installing the new cartridge
The handle must be removed to allow access to the retainer clip, then the cartridge pulls out. You may need a cartridge puller if the faucet is old.
we have had this faucet for a long time and I have done several repairs on it, because it has a lifetime warranty Moen sends us the parts and it is simple to repair. To remove the handle, carefully remove a small plug on the front of the handle, some have the Moen name on them and the one that we currently have is the same color as the faucet. You can remove them easily with a small knife or screwdriver, just make sure not to scratch the finish on the faucet. Under that plug you will find an screw that uses an Allen wrench (3/32), loosen it and the handle will come right off by lifting up on it. To get to the rest of the faucet just lift the dome and the cartridge is ready to remove with a wrench. Don't remove the cartridge without turning off your water source!
YES, you can use moen 1225 as a replacement cartridge. It works perfect. Sad so hard to find an honest plumber.
The correct hex/allen wrench to remove a Moen faucet handle (for the Renzo model faucet) is 7/64".
it depends on Where it is leaking from and who the manufacturer is. Moen will replace your cartridge and or faucet for free as they have a lifetime warranty. if it dripping Under the sink you could have a bad valve which means that the entire faucet will need replaced. if it is dripping from the spout it is most likely the cartridge which can be repaired or replaced without having to remove the entire faucet. contact the manufacturer.
if it is a single lever faucet the cartridge needs to be replaced. check the supply valve under the sink first,
Yes, you can replace cartridge on any Moen unit
Shut the water supplies off, take the handle off, unscrew the cartridge. The washer will be on the bottom of the stem of the cartridge
No. Moen cartridges pull right out with a pair of channel locks after you pull the retaining ring out. Turn the water supplies off first
