First you have to decide how big you want it. Some parades have rules regarding the size of the banner, such as this one "Banners should be made of cloth with a maximum size of 11 feet by 4 feet and a minimum of 7 feet by 4 feet" Once you have decided on a size, sketch out a possible display (wording, figures or designs you want to include). Put iron on lining on a contrasting color of cloth, and cut out the lettering and designs, or purchase ready made iron ons. Be sure they are large enough for your project. Purchase a large wooden dowel, or curtain rod and staple or glue the banner to it. You can also sew a sleeve or tabs to the banner to slip on the dowel.
