The "word-wide-web" by definition is world wide. An "intranet" by definition is not world wide and closed off from the world. As the two are diametrically opposed you can not apply the world-wide-web in an intranet. However the standards and tools used to deliver the world-wide-web can be used in an intranet.
The world wide web can be applied in an internet and extranet environment by allowing users of your site access to the internet. Employees and other

World Wide Web. The www prefix is the notation for a webpage on the internet (as opposed to looking for a term on a search engine or an intranet page or internet files which are not webpages).
An extranet is implemented as a Virtual Private Network (VPN) because it uses the internet to connect to corporate organizations and there is always a threat to information security. VPN offers a secure network in public infrastructure (Internet)
It's the same as internet. World Wide Web
Began as Intranet, the creation of TCP and the introduction of it into mainstream was the birth of the internet
I think you mean Internet and Intranet...the "internet" is everything and anything on the world wide web, an "intranet" on the other hand is when 2 or more computers are connected in a network and can share information,...like for example, a company might have its own intranet for their own purposes. Basically the two are the same, but an intranet is a much smaller scale.

An intranet is a private network with limited access. It could be an internal network within a company, or possibly accessible by authorised customers, but not to the general public. The internet is an open international network that is available to everyone. An intranet may often have access to the internet via a gateway, but external access to the intranet is limited or unavailable.
They're used to browse web pages... those could be on the WWW, they could be on a local intranet, etc.
