Basicly for the most common type of router, you turn off your modem and conect the modem to the router. After that the router has to conect to the pc. Run the software that comes with your router and follow through with the indications. After this both modem and router are turned on. When you open a laptop you will see your device working. Sometimes you have to get the ip number of your model and make of router write it in your browser and go to that page to have settings done to it.
Turn of your Xbox, your router, and your modem (actually, remove the plug from the wall in the case of the modem). Wait 10 minutes. Plug the modem back in and turn it on. After it's up, turn on your router. After it's up, try powering up your Xbox again and logging back on.
You don't need to turn your computer on. Just make sure your Xbox is connected to your router and the router and/or modem is on. If using wireless just plug it in and select your network I'm the Xbox settings.

It's ONLY because you have a router! Turn of your router and connect the computer directly with MODEM! There is no other solution!
this has happened to me also. I discovered an answer that always works: turn your modem and router off, wait a minute, and then turn them back on.
If the internet connection going to your router is connected to a modem then you mght want to turn it off. The modem will have the MAC for your PC stored in it and when you plug in the router it sees its a different MAC and it wont work. Switch the modem off, take a break and then power it on again. When you leave it off for a while it looses all its data, including the MAC address and the next time its powered on it checks for the MAC and finds your router and then it will work. Hopefully.
turn your router/modem of then on then wait 30 seconds one you've waited go on to modern warfare and search
If the computer network is to have internet, then you would need a modem connected via a phone line or cable connection. Then the modem is usually connected to a Router, that in turn connects to a "Switch". All the computers then connect to the Switch through ethernet cable (cat5 or cat6). One computer is often designated as the "Server", a central point to hold the programs and data for the other computers (clients) to use. INTERNET --> MODEM--> ROUTER --> SWITCH --> SERVER --> COMPUTERS (In some cases, the router can also serve as the switch as well).
If you don't have a wireless router, that means you can only get connected to the internet using wire / LAN cable.
