419 & 567: Toledo

440: Ahstabula, Lorain

The telephone country code for the USA (plus Canada and 18 Caribbean-ish islands) is +1.

(The plus sign means "insert your international access prefix here." From a GSM mobile phone, you can enter the number in full international format, starting with the plus sign. The most common prefix is 00, but Japan uses 010, Australia uses 0011, and many other countries use different prefixes.)

Thirteen area codes are assigned to Ohio, but only ten are currently in use. Ohio is geographically divided into eight area code areas, two of which each have two area codes in an overlay.

Ohio's current area codes are...

  • 216: Cleveland
  • 614: Columbus
  • 513: Cincinnati, Middletown
  • 937: Marysville, Springfield, Dayton, Hillsboro
  • 440: Elyria, Ashtabula
  • 740: Marion, Cambridge, Lancaster, Marietta, Jackson
  • 330 & 234: Youngstown, Akron, Canton
  • 419 & 567: Toledo, Sandusky, Bowling Green, Bryan, Lima, Mansfield

In the future, 283 will overlay 513, and 380 will overlay 614. On April 22, 2015, area code 220 will overlay 740.
