Can you reinstall my printer for me? I have moved, changed computers, & lost my CD to reinstall it myself. I was told that if I wrote you, you could do that for me. I have the Canon BJC 2100 series. I appreciate any & all help you can/will give me. PJ Crowder - E-Mail Address: cvanh51@sbcglobal.net

How do you share windows XP network printer with Windows 7?

I am sharing a Dell Photo AIO Printer 926 running on an XP computer with a computer on the network running Windows 7. When I started, the printer was already installed and working on the XP computer and set up to be shared on the network. Then I ran the 926 printer installation disk (the disk that came with the printer) on the Windows 7 computer. At some point it asked me if the printer was connected to another computer on the network. When I answered "yes" it asked for the name of the other computer on the network and the shared name of the printer. After I answered those questions it proceeded to "install" the printer as if it was connected to the Windows 7 machine and it works perfectly. I was surprised that worked, after having tried many times (unsuccessfully) to connect to it by installing new drivers on the Windows 7 computer. So I would suggest using the printer installation disk on the Windows 7 computer. If you do not have the disk I would suggest trying to get one from the printer manufacturer.

What do printer drivers do?

Printer drivers - are small programs that enable the operating software (eg Windows) to recognise that the printer is attached to the computer. They literally allow the printer and computer to 'talk' to each other.

You have windows xp you are trying to install a printer but printer spoolers are not working and they will not start you get a message saying that files may have been deleted Can this be fixed?

If you have the CD that came with the printer, reinstall it. If not, got to the website of the printer manufacture and download the installation program.

How can you share a network printer on Windows 98 which displays status 'printer not found' after installing it on Server 2003?

First I would try to reinstall the printer software and setup the sharing properties. Or just install the printer to the server and distribute the sharing from there...

Does Windows have built-in printer drivers?

Yes. However, this does not mean that your printer will be supported out of the box.

Your computer is not able to communicate with your printer?

Check the wires/cables. Are they plugged completely/correctly into the back of the printer/computer and wall? Check for the program. Has the setup been installed correctly into the computer? To check this, click on your 'Start button'; now find 'Control Panel' and click that. This will bring up a window, look for one on here similar to 'Programs and Features' or 'Add/Uninstall Programs'. Click twice on that and you will see a list of all of the programs that are loaded into your computer. Search for your printer name. If the printer is on the list then close all of your windows and reinstall the printer disk. Maybe it was not installed completely.

No reason why not - provided you have the correct driver(s) for the hardware installed in Windows 8.
