I flew out to Nashville with no other intention than to see my friend, who is on a dialysis machine everyday. He basically needs another kidney. He's going through a second kidney transplant. It broke my heart to see him like that and basically inspired me all at the same time. I hung out with him that day, and I went back to my hotel room, and I was really restless. I just couldn't sleep. It was one of those songs I really look forward to writing, because it almost wrote itself. I woke up at three in the morning, and I just got out the hotel paper, and I just started writing. The band most likely borrowed the name from Pete Townshend's 1970-1971 music project of the same name, which was going to be a double-disc concept album (credited to The Who, of course), and a film incorporating live stage performances. However, I cannot verify this, as I do not know enough of the band (Lifehouse) to prove so (I am an avid Who fan and an admirer of the abandoned Lifehouse project--well, sort of abandoned, as a radio play was made in 1999 and many of the songs related to the project have been released, such as "Won't Get Fooled Again", "Baba O'Riley" and "Behind Blue Eyes"). What I want to really know is, why has no one asked them this yet?
