The idea of the show was to choose a girl band and a boy band, and then see which band's song topped the charts first. Girls aloud was the band formed from the female winners, and the boy band was One True Voice.

Girls Aloud won when their song 'Sound of the Underground' reached number one during the last show of the series. One True Voice made the number two spot the same week, then sank without trace.
