Is there a website that can tell you if you are related to your friend?
Ancestry.com is a site where you can research your family tree. As for telling you instantly if your friend is indeed a relative no it cannot do that. But with some time and research you can figure out yours and his/hers genealogy and see if your family tree branches connect.
What are some free genealogy sites without membership?
Yes, there are genealogy websites that provide information for free and I'll give you a few examples below. Also, check with your LDS Family History Center or public library. They may provide no-cost access to some subscription genealogy websites if you visit their facilities. www.familysearch.org www.rootsweb.com http://www.freebmd.org.uk/ The GenWeb sites (do a search for a county, state and "genweb") I suppose it depends on what you are researching and what you are trying to do. Are you just starting your research? It can make a difference if you are searching US 19th century, Ireland 18th century, American Indian, African American, and so on. At some point it may be beneficial if you were to subscribe to something like Ancestry.com ( http://ancestry.com/ ) -- they do have a free 14 day trial offer. You just have to weigh the cost of the subscription against the benefits of accessing certain databases online. Perhaps it's more economical, or efficient, right now than taking vacation and incurring the expenses of going to the US National Archives in Washington DC, or the LDS library in Salt Lake City, for example. There are free things available - for example searching the US Social Security Death Index ( http://www.cyndislist.com/socsec.htm ) or the Personal Ancestral File (PAF) is a free genealogy and family history program ( http://www.familysearch.org ); as well as the sites mentioned in the previous answer. There are also volunteer projects that might be helpful to you. There re several referenced on the RootsWeb home page. Assuming you are conducting some US research, you may already know that there are regional US National Archives with free access, perhaps one is close to where you live. Also some public libraries have free access to genealogical materials. Depending on where and when you are researching, there may be a wealth of information freely available.
What is the best free Genealogy site?
Kindred Konnections is a good site for that. I do transcribing for them and earn 1 free hour with them and you can do as many as you want. To get into the membership section you have to pay but if you do the transcribing(census pages, typing out names)you can use that 9one of your hours) to get into the paid section and search.
What is the best website to find out about your ancestry?
You must go to libraries and archives and look for records about them such as birth certificates, death certificates, marriage records, court records, obituaries, etc. This requires that you know something about some of them before you begin. For that ask your parents, grandparents older cousins, aunts and uncles. Some searching can be done on the Internet but you still need that basic information first.
What are some characteristics that make someone the best wife in the world?
The things that I love most about my wife are… She never knows when I am joking…or at least makes me believe she doesn't know. She listens to me talk for hours without getting bored or at least appearing bored. She is the most patient person I now. You can only imagine why. She always sees the best in others. She always brings out the best in others…even me. She tolerates me…just the way I am. She never tries to change me….although she has. She never wants anything, never asks for anything. She is always content in whatever state she is in. She is never moody, never crumpy; never angry...she's always the same. She always looks so pretty. She has never had even a single bad hair day! She is not only my best friend and lover; she is the mother of our four wonderful children. I think that the greatest gift a woman could ever giver her man…is children. They all look like her, share her gifts, traits and personality. I see her in each of them. We have traveled the world together. We have seen it all and done it all. We have friends we call family in more than 100 nations of the world. She fit in as though naturally with every culture, every personality. She appeared to speak their language, to know their hearts. She made the world seem like a much better, peaceful place….just because she was there.
How can you find out about your heritage without paying a geneolgy site?
See if your local public library subscribes to Ancestry.com and/or Heritage Quest online. Ancestry is almost a must, and if your library has it you can access it while inside your library for free with a library card.
Heritage Quest (ProQuest) has less, but you can see some census schedules there and more. Unlike the library version of Ancestry.com HQ is accessible from your home using your library card bar code for entry.
You might also look at the other free online sites, such as rootsweb.com, cyndi's list, family search, etc. You can also search for a state name+genweb to see some local info it the county or state has it online. You might also try typing in the county and state + genealogy to see what comes up.
Many 'how to' books are for sale. Check bookstores and libraries. Hope this gets you started. Happy hunting!
Where can you find your family tree free?
The best way, and free way, is to ask your parents.
In case your parents don't know too much about it, as in adoptions and things like that, i would recommend going to your local library. They should have some local family histories, and books on how to find yours.

How do you do Mormon indexing?
I assume that you are asking about indexing for FamilySearch.org, the genealogy website that is operated by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (the "Mormon" church). (Indexing really has nothing to do with the religion at all)
In order to begin indexing you just need to visit indexing.familysearch.org and click on the "Get Started" button. This will lead you through the step-by-step process of downloading the free indexing application to your computer and it will give you an option to participate in an online presentation about how to use the application and the rules of indexing. If you don't have a computer you can go to a Family History Center operated by the church and use the application on their computers.
Once you have downloaded the application and learned how to use it, the process is simple. You select which records you would like to index from a list, and then the record will appear on the top half of your screen while you fill in the digital form on the bottom half of the screen. When you are done, you submit the record and it will soon be available for users of FamilySearch.org to see!

Ayyanavar caste
The tradition in our community is that they originally came from a place called ALKAUDU modern Arcot Districts' where they are Known as Aiyanar and where they lived in forts of their own. The name "Aiyanar" is a corrupt form of the wordAIYANAVAR which means in Tamil the followers or worshippers of AIYYAN or AOUANANAN meaning Siva', the five faced one.The old poems and works of the early centuries of the Christian era says Walter Francis Esq. M.A.I.C.S." contain many descriptions of a tribe called EYINAR who seems to have been quite distinct from the rest of the population and did not live in villages but in forts of their own.Ambur and Vellore are mentioned as the sites of two of them.(vide Madras Government Census Report 1901 Part 1 page 172).At a remote period of their history, after successive settlements in different localities in South India, they entered South Travancore through Aramboly and came and lived for some time near Pannivoickal.AIYANAR: A sub division of KALLAN named after their male deity Aiyanar.References;Memorandum dt 10.4.1919 submitted by the South Travancore Aiyanavar Sanghom to His Excellency, M.Krishnan NairEsq.B.A.B.L. The Eyinar or Vedar were the most lawless of the Naga tribes.Cattle lifting and Pillage and murder appear to have been the sole business of their life. They worshipped the dread goddess Kali and slaughtered buffaloes at her shrine to secure her favor in their plundering raids. Before starting on their expeditions they usually consulted omens in the chirping and flight of birds.Their descendants are now known by the appropriate title of " Kallar " or thieves.Dhirataran Murti Eyinar the great chief of Viramangalam referred to in the plates of Jatilavarman,a Pandyan king of the twelfth century A.D.appears to have belonged to this tribe.Reference:The Tamils Eighteen Hundred Years Ago. by Sri. Can an indexer modify the name filed by highlighting the existing name and typing a new name?
That depends on what type of indexing you are doing, what software you are using, and who you are working for. In some indexing programs, you definitely can write over the existing name and record what you see, and your indexing results get saved separately for someone to resolve. In other systems you cannot overwrite, but you can only approve or deny, or write something different in a separate exception field.

Yes, they have. You can refer to the added link, for a referenced website on Michael Collins' family tree.
Although Collins never married or had any children, before he was assassinated, he was one of 8 children. Children or Grandchildren of his nieces and nephews are still alive, today.
*The family tree linked by the earlier answerer is only tangentially connected. No good comprehensive ancestry for both Michael Collins' paternal and maternal lines is readily available online.
Is there a Savalas family website?
---- Excellent response. I have been trying to figure out what a "Savalas" is for decades. Is it from Fotos Tzavelas, son of Hellenic icon Lambros Tzavelas, who himself was a Greek patriot, backgammon champion and distant great-great-great-great-great-great-grandfather of TV star Telly Savalas? Fotos' 1814 murder at the historic "Mavros Gatos" ('Le Chat Noir' or 'Black Cat') cafe after triple-gammoning the proud Ali Pasha was the incident that began the Greek struggle for independence. Perhaps the answer can be found in reading about the heroic life of Kitsos Tzavelas, Greek fighter and Prime Minister? Tzavelas was born in Souli, Epirus in 1800, the son of Fotos Tzavelas and grandson of Lambros Tzavelas, both of whom were famous for their roles in the Souliot struggles against Ali Pasha, the Turkish governor of Epirus. He grew up in exile in Kerkyra. Tzavelas played a leading role in the Greek War of Independence in 1821, distinguishing himself especially during the siege of Messolonghi. After the arrival in Greece of Ioannis Kapodistrias, during the latter part of the war, Tzavelas was responsible for liberating a large part of Central Greece. After indepedence, Tzavelas became a supporter of Kapodistria and eventually a leader in the Russian Party which was the conservative and arch-Orthodox political faction in the period of King Otto. Accused of planning a revolt against the king in 1834, Tzavelas was imprisoned by the Regency Council head by von Armansperg along with other politicians of the Russian Party. When King Otto reached the age of majority and took over the reigns of government, Tzavelas was released and later was named aide-de-camp to the king. He was subsequently appointed Minister of War in 1844 and, in 1847-1848, Prime Minister. Kitsos Tzavelas died on March 21, 1855. Generations later, while becoming United States citizens in the early 1900's via Ellis Island, the family name, 'Tsavelas' (and the variant 'Tsavalas' - it doesn't really translate well into English) was simplified to 'Savalas'. The offspring of that American lineage includes Decorated Soldiers, Diplomats, Architects, Producers, Doctors, Teachers, Artists, etc., and, of course, Actors. The official Savalas family website is at: http://savalas.tv - if you'd like more information, please contact me using the contact area there. Until I hear from you, I remain, Sincerely, Nicholas Savalas - http://savalas.tv
