They convey similar information so neither has any significant advantage over another. Line graphs are probably better when there are many data points to be plotted and bar charts when there are only a few. This is particularly important if you do not wish naive users to interpolate between data points.
Stacked bars are probably better for illustrating levels as well as shares of the total.
Pie chart it is used for percents of a whole, no time included.
the advantages fo using a line graph is that is shows trends over time and with a bar chart it shows ammount
A continuous graph that shows change over time.
aaa Bar Graph - A graph consisting of parallel, usually vertical bars or rectangles with lengths proportional to the frequency with which specified quantities occur in a set of data. Also called bar chart. A bar chart or bar graph is a chart with rectangular bars with lengths proportional to the values that they represent. Bar charts are used for comparing two or more values. The bars can be horizontally or vertically oriented. Sometimes a stretched graphic is used instead of a solid bar.Pie Graphs? or Pie Charts - A pie chart (or a circle graph) is a circular chart divided into sectors, illustrating relative magnitudes or frequences or percents. In a pie chart, the arc length of each sector (and consequently its central angle and area), is proportional to the quantity it represents. Together, the sectors create a full disk. It is named for its resemblance to a pie which has been sliced.Line Graphs - The line graph is also sometimes called the edge graph, the adjoint graph, the interchange graph, or the derived graph of X A line chart or line graphis a type of graph created by connecting a series of data points together with a line. A line chart is a basic type of chart common in many fields. It is an extension of a scatter graph, and is created by connecting a series of points that represent individual measurements with line segments. A line chart is often used to visualize a trend in data over intervals of time, thus the line is often drawn chronologically(mathematics) A graph in which successive points representing the value of a variable at selected values of the independent variable are connected by straight lines.Source Wikipedia
A line graph would be used for population [change] because you are showing how the population increases or decreases over time. If you are talking about comparing different populations at one given time, then a bar graph or pi chart would be used.
Line graphs are generally used for this purpose. Bar graphs are also used to show change over time.
The most common graph for change over time would be the line graph.
Line chart
Either one of a scattergraph, a line graph or a bar chart can show trends over time.
In statistics, a graph and a chart are the same. In arithmetic, a graph is the plot of a function over values. There are no charts.

a line graph is over time. a bar graph is not
A continuous graph that shows change over time.
A chart with time shown on the x-axis. It can be a bar chart, a scatter graph, a line chart or others. An exceptionally brilliant example is Charles Joseph Minard's chart showing the fate of Napoleon's army during its 1812 attempted invasion of Russia. See link.
