A 'main colour', or a colour that can make other colours. These colours are blue, yellow and red. Red and blue purple, yellow and blue make green and yellow and red make range.
If you are talking about mixing paint colours, nothing added to brown will ever make yellow. Since yellow is a primary colour it can not be mixed from other colours.
There are 3 primary colours in colour wheels, and three secondary. The primary colours are blue, red, and yellow. These colours then make mix to blue and red to make purple, blue and yellow to create green, and yellow and red to make orange.
