go to us census and you will see that there are techinically many who consider themselves "white" but do not look "white" like under the white race= mexicans, middle eastern etc...
First, it is important to note that the US Census Bureau is constantly refining their questions to fit an ever-changing population. For example, the first US Census 1790 only included "White" and "Black" (no matter the degree of "whiteness" or "blackness". By 1850, the designations White or Black was refined to also include "Mullato", which was a subjective assessment the Census-taker made of a person's degree of "blackness".Wikipedia includes a long list of Race designations used in the 2010 Census. Yes. While officially denied for years, they did acknowledge it a few years ago, some six decades after the fact. And back then, just like now, they had told all the people answering the Census that it was completely confidential and that the information (such as on race) would never be disclosed. There have been no disciplinary actions for that ever, nor has any policy of the U.S. Census Bureau ever changed in response to that complete violation of confidentiality.
