Operation Christmas Child brings joy and hope to children in desperate situations around the world through gift-filled shoe boxes and the Good News of God's love. This program of Samaritan's Purse provides an opportunity for people of all ages to be involved in a simple, hands-on missions project while focusing on the true meaning of Christmas-Jesus Christ.
National Collection Week is November 12-19.
From the Samaritan's Purse website:
"The mission of Operation Christmas Child is to demonstrate God's love in a tangible way to needy children around the world, and together with the local church worldwide, to share the Good News of Jesus Christ."
To accomplish that mission, shoe boxes are filled with gifts and delivered to children worldwide.
Many opponents of the program note that the organization uses the non-sectarian boxes of gifts to proselytize by inserting religious tracts into the boxes. Other complaints indicate that recipients must participate in an indoctrination program before receiving the "gift" boxes
Every year Operation Christmas Child chooses a third world country and, gives the boxes to them. So to answer your question no children in the US do not get Christmas boxes.

Christmas for kids is a charity organization build to help more disadvantaged children still experience the magic of Christmas. Normally schools in more stable countries have the children post over a box of presents for a poor child.
Some of the top Christmas charities include The Salvation Army, Toys for Tots, Operation Christmas Child, Make-A-Wish Foundation, and Feeding America. These organizations focus on providing gifts, food, and support to those in need during the holiday season. They rely on donations and volunteers to make a meaningful impact in their communities.
