In general labor unions have improved the lives of its members & their families.

This has been done in the following ways:

1. Improved wages;

2. Job security ( to the extent possible ) ;

3. Improved health benefits;

4. Improved and safe working conditions;

5. A system to address worker problems or disputes with management; and

6. Retirement plans.
