No, feminists are not people who hate men.

Feminism is the movement seeking equality between the sexes, that means bringing women up to equal footing with men socially and economically but not by bringing men down. Feminism recognizes that the patriarchal society damages men too, so rather than hating men feminism actually fights for mens rights by tackling issues such as male rape and inequality in the family courts.

This is a common myth. Feminists as a whole do not hate men. They just see men and women as equal and are tired of the abuses against women that many men have committed over centuries. There are many things that women consider abusive that men don't or which may traumatize women. But as the nature of how many women is, and how society is, many women don't speak up, and many men assume that their silence is consent.

Feminism also seeks to liberate men from strict or unnatural social roles imposed on them. Why can't men be sincere and caring and show empathy without being accused of weakness or homosexuality? And why can't more gay men embrace that part of themselves and society at least let them do so without peer pressure and punishment?

This is referred to as a Misandrist. Despite many stereotypes, not all women hate men and feminists do not hate men either; feminists believe in equality between sexes. Even men can hate their own gender.

What are men called If women are called Feminists?

Actually, the word "feminist" does not mean a female. It refers to a person, male or female, who believes in equality for women; it also means a person who believes women have been discriminated against, and wants this to be changed. Throughout history, there have absolutely been men who were feminists. But you are right-- most feminists tend to be women. It should also be noted that the word has been demonized by conservative commentators, who associate it with hating men. Some women who believe in feminism do not want to be called feminists as a result of this unfortunate stereotype. Of course, there are extremists in any social movement, and there may indeed be a small segment of feminists who hate men; however it is not accurate to link all feminists with anti-male attitudes. In fact, the majority of feminists have very positive relationships with men. What feminists hate is prejudice and discrimination. That said, a man who supports feminism can certainly be called a feminist, or he can be described as "egalitarian," one who believes men and women are equal, rather than believing men are superior to women.

Is feminism bad?

Feminists are not evil. But they are misunderstood. Feminists are essentially anyone, woman or man, who believes that women should have the same rights as men. Those who consider themselves feminists, however, are actively trying to make the livelihoods of women equal to those of men. They are trying to make it so that female employees get the same salary as male employees for the same job. So that women get the same respect & treatment as men do in daily life. They are fighting to get women in third world countries basic human rights. Feminists are trying to make the world an equal place for both men & women alike to live in. There are a lot of myths about feminists. Those myths stem from a small percentage of feminists whose views have, unfortunately, created the negative way most people view all feminists. This small portion of feminists believe that all men are evil. They basically hate men. They feel that all the evil in the world is attributed to men &, truthfully, would be thrilled if all men just disappeared off the face of the earth & they could live in a world where men did not exist. They are known as the "radical-lesbian-feminists" & their incredibly extreme views have adversely effected the way people view not only feminists, but lesbians as well. It is why a great deal of people still believe that lesbians hate men, which is absolutely not true. Many of these women, if not most, are/were not even lesbians, just women who, probably because of childhood experiences, hate men. That is one myth right there. A lot of people believe that all feminists are lesbians, & that is not true. Many straight women, bi women & many men are feminists. Feminists come in all races, creeds, colors, sexes... Many celebrities are feminists. Another myth which is held by a lot of people is that all feminists are dirty, unkempt, unhygienic, etc. This is also untrue as feminists do, in fact, take regular showers, baths, & take care of themselves. Until recently, I believed most of those myths & negative stereotypes which are placed on feminists. Until I learned otherwise, that is. I knew nothing of feminists except what I had always heard/been told. I pretty much thought they were evil myself. I didn't particularly like them & disagreed with pretty much everything they stood for. That was when I knew absolutely nothing of what they stood for. After I became a little more informed, however, I found that I actually do agree with most, if not all, of what they stand for. You should try doing some research on feminists yourself if you still believe they are evil. Try an encyclopedia, google-ing it, wiki-ing it... & you will find some more info on feminists. It depends on what you mean by feminist.

Is it possible to romance women and still be a feminist?

Of course. The feminism movement in itself isn't meant to be a "men hate" - group. Their main goals have been since the start of the movement to get women equal rights on different social subjects. Sadly, the movement is nowadays seen as a men hate movement. To answer the original question - yes, feminists can be romantics even though they are feminists. So can people who are men's rights activists. They can as well be romantics, they just want to be heard on subjects where they feel women are getting more rights.

What are the beliefs of feminist?

I myself am a feminist and what feminists believe is that all sexes are equal. I believe that women can be just as strong or powerful as men when they put their minds to it and that women aren't made to seduce men. Feminists are strongly against playboy and other sexual magazines with women on them. Feminists dont think that we are better than men we believe in equality and balance. GO FEMINISM! people say we dont need feminists when 1 in 4 women are raped and 86 out of 100 politicians are men and there hasnt been a female president yet. we need feminists

Is Gloria Steinem a lesbian?

No, there is no evidence of it. However, she does have a number of lesbian friends and sometimes has been the victim of the old stereotype that feminists must be women hate men. Ms. Steinem does not hate men at all; she does, however, hate discrimination and prejudice.
