hi, i'm not sure if this is the answer you were looking for but i do health & social care at college and i've learnt that you should use:-

Non-verbal communication:-

  • good eye contact
  • good posture to show your relaxed e.g. dont fold your arms as that might show to the client you are angry with them
  • sit or stand arms-length away from the client to give them personal space

Verbal communication:-

  • Be careful in the way you would praise the client..e.g don't say 'you are a star and have tried fantastically' in a patronizing way as this could make the elderly feel as though you are talking down to them

I hope this answer has helped a little bit :-)
