Yes and no. Twisted dread extensions need the heat to set the fibers. Natural dreads are usually heat sealed, too, but if you would rather not use heat you can make natural dreads and just palm roll them constantly. NEVER use dry heat such as a hair dryer, as it will melt the hair.
