A mini cassette was used in transcriber machines. It is a bit longer in length than the micro cassette, but the same height. The reason I know this is because I have transcribed from both sides for doctor's office, beginning back in the 1990s. The mini was never used for very long. Kind of like the beta and the VHS tapes for video recording. VHS won out over beta.

Transcription involves dictating or typing word for word audio in a Microsoft Word document. Transcription requires someone with a good listening ear. There are three types of transcription to get into, which are medical, general, and legal. Medical transcription requires a person going to an ADHI-accredited school, such as Career Step. Most companies require experience and going to an ADHI-accredited school is waived by the hiring company. General transcription is the easiest to get started in because it requires no training. There are many companies that hire beginners, such Mountain West Processing and TigerFish Transcription. Most legal transcription companies require a year of experience. A person with legal experience, such as a paralegal can easily get into this field.
In medical transcription, the starting pay is $0.06 a line when working for companies. Most medical transcriptionists type at least 50 an hour because it takes a while to get to learn all of the medical terminology. If a person works eight hours a day, they will make $24 a day. Once a person starts getting more experience, the pay will double. The good thing about working for a company is that benefits are included when working full-time. A person can work as an independent contractor and charge $0.14 a line and make $56 a day in their first year.
When starting in general transcription, a person is paid by the audio hour. For instance, if a client's rate is $40 an audio hour, this means if a client sends the transcriber 60 minutes of audio, the transcriber will be paid $40 no matter how long it takes for them to transcribe the audio. Once a transcriber gets experience, they can charge their own rates. Legal transcribers get paid by the page, which can range from $0.50 to $3.00 a page.

Jacob Shallus (1750-1796) was the Engrosser or Penman of the United States Constitution whose hand-written copy of the Constitution is on display in the US National Archives. Jacob Shallus served as Assistant Clerk to the Pennsylvania General Assembly at the time of the Constitutional Convention in Philadelphia. Although his name appears nowhere on the official document, the investigation into the identity of the Penman in 1937 for the 150th anniversary of the Constitution revealed the identity of the transcriber and that $30 was paid for "clerks employed to transcribe & engross." Shallus is also credited as Assistant Secretary in the 1790 re-authoring of the State Constitution of Pennsylvania.

Liszt was one of the greatest promoters of the piano solo performance. He was the first to start positioning the piano on stage so that the right profile of the pianist would face the audience. Prior to this, the pianist was usually face to face with the audience and this was not optimal in terms of seeing the pianists hands, or in terms of projecting sound to the audience. In effect, Liszt invented the solo piano performance, and thanks to his incredible skill and dazzling performances, audiences became interested in seeing performances that were solely a piano recital, versus the variety style shows which were common at the time. Liszt also embraced and promoted both the geniuses of his time and prior. Without Liszt and his skills as a transcriber, we would not have access to many of the works of Schubert, and other masters of the genre. The great master even spent his final years teaching piano for free.

None at all. The Enigma cypher machine was a primitive electromechanical device that was entirely manually operated. It required 3 soldiers to send/receive messages with it:
The British initially broke these messages by hand, but later built electromechanical machines called "Bombe"s. Even using a Bombe it could take hours of manual analysis of a message before the Bombe could be setup and started. If the Bombe succeeded in cracking the cypher, it did not decrypt it but only provided the Enigma key. That key then had to be setup on a Typex cypher machine configured to operate as the Enigma did and the original message typed by hand into the Typex (which at least automatically printed it, unlike the Enigma).
The Bombe was in no way a computer.

Working as an electroencephalographic transcriber for a major neurologic department in Chicago, and with a background in editing a daily newspaper, I was asked by one of the senior physicians to write a letter to one of his elderly female patients, telling her that he was withdrawing from being her doctor because "she refuses to do anything I tell her -- and since she is a dying old woman, I want her to be convinced that I never intend to see her again, and I am willing to turn over her entire medical history to whoever else she turns to." After I wrote that "on demand piece" as he requested, he simply signed it and walked away. I'll leave it up to you if this is an adequate answer -- it definitely was an "on demand" order, successfully completed. I wrote it in such a way that the patient would not have any grounds to sue him malpractice.
At age 19, in 1956, I invited Detroit, Michigan's first U.S. Representative, Charles C. Diggs, Jr., to be our church's Men's Day guest speaker. He told the large audience: "Out of some 30-odd invitations to speak at different locations this afternoon, I chose to come here solely because of the persuasive letter this young man wrote to me."
That was the beginning of my lifetime of writing persuasive and "on demand" pieces.

Beginning a home based medical transcription business can prove to be a very rewarding opportunity. A lot of medical centers and physicians are inquiring the assistance of independent medical transcription services instead of hiring a medical transcriber to work within their office. This is due to the fact that they can save a great deal of money by not having to pay for things such as health insurance, unemployment, vacation time and sick days. By opting to work from home, the medical transcriber also reaps many benefits as well. Some of these benefits include the ability to make their own schedule, there are no expensive clothes that need to be purchased to work within an office setting, and they have the ability to spend more quality time with their family by attending school related events and activities.
Beginning a Home Based Medical Transcription BusinessIf you are planning on starting a medical transcription business from your home, there are a few requirements that you must complete prior to starting your business. The first thing that must be done is to complete a medical transcribing course and earn your certification. This can be done through your local college or university. Some other ways to earn this certification is to complete a medical transcribing program that is accredited. If you are currently working or have a great deal of daily commitments that prevent you from attending these types of classes, you can complete your course work through an online school that is accredited through a major university. These courses and programs will help you get your medical transcribing certification within six to twelve months of time.
Once you have a certification in medical transcribing you can visit your local zoning board to find out what must be done to begin a business in your home. All zoning areas have different requirements and laws governing home based businesses. You may find that you need a business license. You may also have to pay for items such as a registration fee and file for a business tax license. Your local zoning board will help you with all of these issues.
Setting up an organized office is a very important aspect to your home based medical transcription business. You will need equipment such as a computer, printer, fax machine, filing cabinet, medical transcribing machine and a lot of paper and pencils. Second hand equipment works just as well as most new models at a fraction of the costs. You can search for these items at thrift stores, business liquidation sales that are going out of business and by looking through your local classified ads.
When you have all of these issues taken care of you are ready to begin your business. Advertising is a critical point to helping insure your business is successful. To advertise your services to gain the most results you should take the time to visit physician’s offices throughout your local area and introduce yourself. You can also choose to advertise through online classified ads and in your local newspaper. It may take a few months for you to get an adequate amount of clients to feel as though your business is a success. Do not give up because this is one area that will continue to be an in-demand type of career field for many years to come.

Yes.
Interpolations are incorporated through grammar variables, when similar letters are incorrectly transcribed, or when similar sounding words are recited to the transcriber who hears the word not written, during copying of an original manuscript, e.g. - Romans 5:1: where the original manuscript variants (Anglicized) are 'we have peace' or 'let us have peace'.
Interpolations are added in transliterations due to inefficiencies of doctrinal knowledge and misconceived perceptions, e.g. - Romans 9:28: original versions have 'a short word' which is changed by translators to 'a short work'; and John 19:25: most early versions have Mary of Clopas which is changed to Mary wife of Clopas in most later versions.
Interpolations can also be complimentary to the original translation when new editions or versions are made, e.g. original King James editions have Romans 12:19 'give place unto wrath' while revised King James versions have 'give place to the wrath of God'.

There are three types of transcription jobs, which are medical, legal, and general It involves dictating word for word audio in a Microsoft Word document. In order to get into transcription, a person needs a reliable computer, food pedal, transcription software, noise-cancelling headphones, high speed Internet, and MS Word 2000 or higher. Also, a person must have a good listening ear because the audio ranges from good to poor.
Medical transcription requires extensive training. In order to get a job in this field, a person must go to an ADHI-approved school, such as Andrews School because most companies require a year of experience. By going to an ADHI-approved school, the experience requirement is waived. General transcription on the other hand doesn't require any experience. A person can get their feet wet by signing up on Elance or Guru and transcribe audio for private clients. You can get into legal transcription faster if you were a paralegal in the past, but most companies require a year of experience.
The pay varies in each transcription field. In medical you can either be an employee or an independent contractor. Medical transcribers get paid by the line, which is $0.06 a line. The hourly pay ranges from $12 to 17, depending on experience on how many lines that are typed per day. General transcribers get paid by the audio hour. When you're starting out, the pay can be anywhere from $10 to $40 an audio hour. Once your typing speed gets higher, you can earn $60 and more an hour, depending on the clients and companies you work for. Legal transcribers make money by the page. The more pages that are produced, the more money you can make. Starting out as a legal transcriber, you can make as low as 50 cents per page. This may not be much, but if this is the field you want to get into, the experience is priceless. Once you get a year of experience under your belt, you can be making at least $3.00 a page.

One of the best jobs to get into from home is transcription. The three transcription jobs you can get into are general, legal, and medical. All three of these specialties involve dictating verbatim audio into a Word document. In order to get into the transcription business, you will need special equipment such as a foot pedal and Express Scribe. Two of the skills that you'll need before going into this business are a good ear and fast typing skills.
General transcription is one of the easiest of the three fields to get into because the only requirements you need are typing and listening skills. The faster you type, the more money you can make. The better paying transcription jobs require typing at least 75 wpm.
Legal transcription requires at least a year of experience. Most companies send their audio digitally through email, but with legal, you may be required to have a tape recorder, especially for transcribing.
Medical transcription requires at least six months of training. In order to get training, you'll need to attend an ADHI-approved school, such as Richland Community College. Most medical transcription programs are self-taught, unless you decide to train at a community college. When you attend the right college, the job requirement will be waived.
Each of the three transcription specialties have different pay scales. In medical transcription, the starting salary is $11.00 an hour. Once you gain more experience, you can earn up to $17 an hour. The pay scale is dependent on how many lines you produce in a day and if you're an employee or independent contractor. General transcribers get paid by the audio hour, not by the amount of time it takes to transcribe a piece of audio. As for legal transcription, you'll be paid by the page. The rate is dependent on what the company or transcriber charges. For instance, if you charge $3.00 a page for 100 pages of work, you'll receive $300.
