There is the organ, piano, harpsichord, synthesiser, and the alto.
The organ is a huge instrument that whenever a key is pressed the sound comes out of a huge tube. The harpsichord is an electric version of the piano. The piano is whenever a key is pressed a hammer hits one of the strings, the alto is a lot like the piano, and the synthesiser is also like the piano.

Transposing cannot be pinned down to one instrument as transposing is the process of moving a Set of notes up or down in pitch (how low or a sound is). In your case a synthesiser or keyboard can allow you to change the number of steps the pitch is changed by.

Tenor Saw was one of the pioneers of RAGGA, which is electronic synthesiser based Reggae. Born Clive Bright in West Kingston he was already famous in Jamaica before he reached his twentieth birthday. His most famous hit was "Ring the Alarm" recorded when he was nineteen. He was killed in Houston Texas in 1988 while trying to cross the street in front of a recording studio. He was 22 years old.

I am Geoffrey Rose.The laser harp was inspired by the theremin, which I had built from a kit many years before.In 1976 I designed the first harp to create a digital theremin.I used a 5mw laser divided into 10 beams, which created a 5 X 5 matrix of intersecting beams in an octagonal frame.There is a pic on Laser Spectacles website.By using photoresistors at the end of the beam paths and by using AND gates diodes, 25 different sounds were produced by a synthesiser in circuit with the resistors...easy...

Stephen Hawking is a theoretical physicist and cosmologist. He is best known for his work in the fields of cosmology and quantum gravity, especially his work on black holes. Stephen was diagnosed with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), a type of motor neurone disease, at the age of 21. Sounds and waves (wav) are files that contain a digitised version of the sound itself so they just need putting through a digital to analogue converter then playing back through headphones or loudspeakers.
However MIDI files contain instructions to tell a synthesiser or sound module what notes to play. You can think of them as being like the old fashion player-piano with a roll of paper with holes punched in it that makes the keys move as the holes pass under a special mechanism. However MIDI files can tell the sound module what sounds to play as well as many other things to control the sound.

The "synth" or Synthesiser created originally by Elisha Gray 1876 actually allowed many of the "techno" musicians to increase the sound ranges they had available when writing music in the early 1980s. This reduced the cost of having huge amounts of musicians on the stage and payrole but still gave a new unique sound. Indeed one of the first uses of a "synth" in cojunction with music was created by the BBC (British Broadcasting Corporation) Sound Effects Unit in the very early 1960s. The music was the opening to the now world famous Dr Who.

I wrote scientific papers by dictating to a secretary, and I gave seminars through an interpreter, who repeated my words more clearly. However, the tracheotomy operation removed my ability to speak altogether. For a time, the only way I could communicate was to spell out words letter by letter, by raising my eyebrows when someone pointed to the right letter on a spelling card. It is pretty difficult to carry on a conversation like that, let alone write a scientific paper. However, a computer expert in California, called Walt Woltosz, heard of my plight. He sent me a computer program he had written, called Equalizer. This allowed me to select words from a series of menus on the screen, by pressing a switch in my hand. The program could also be controlled by a switch, operated by head or eye movement. When I have built up what I want to say, I can send it to a speech synthesizer. At first, I just ran the Equalizer program on a desk top computer.
However David Mason, of Cambridge Adaptive Communication, fitted a small portable computer and a speech synthesizer to my wheel chair. This system allowed me to communicate much better than I could before. I can manage up to 15 words a minute. I can either speak what I have written, or save it to disk. I can then print it out, or call it back and speak it sentence by sentence. Using this system, I have written a book, and dozens of scientific papers. I have also given many scientific and popular talks. They have all been well received. I think that is in a large part due to the quality of the speech synthesiser, which is made by Speech Plus. Elisha Gray (1835-1901) invented the first electric music synthesizer in 1876. He called it a "Musical Telegraph"; it had a two-octave keyboard and he went on tour with it!
Experimenters came up with synthesizers of various sorts during the early 20th century, but none of them were commercially manufactured. The first commercial musical instrument to use waveform synthesis was the Hammond Novachord, which was introduced in 1939. Fewer than 5,000 were made before the outbreak of World War II brought production to a halt. After the war, the concept attracted the attention of academic researchers and prominent composers. RCA built the Mark II Sound Synthesizer at the Columbia-Princeton Electronic Music Center in New York in 1957. That was the first synthesizer to include a sequencer and several important recordings were made with it. It was, however, a one-of-a-kind piece of equipment. (It still exists, by the way).
The invention of the transistor changed everything. In 1963, Robert Moog demonstrated a modular synthesizer system that made synthesizers much more practical. He standardized the use of logarithmic control voltages for oscillators, filters and amplifiers, which meant that the modules could be used in many different ways. In addition, his patented (filed in 1966) design for a four-pole, voltage-controlled, regenerative low-pass filter was phenomenally successful and widely imitated, but no one could duplicate Moog's VCF sound until the patent expired.

Invented a synthesizer in 1963, which he demonstrated at the Audio Engineering Society convention of that year. While not the first-ever synthesizer (such had been invented in 1955 by the RCA company), Moog's designs were very good. By 1971 his company Moog Music was marketing the Minimoog Model D, to great success. His synthesizers used real keyboards, a great advantage over competing models; the Moog III sported two keyboards (five octaves each) and a number of different ways to modulate sound -- pitch, timbre, decay, etc. Among early adopters of his instruments were The Monkees, and Wendy Carlos with Switched-On Bach. After leaving Moog Music he formed another company, Big Briar, marketing theremins and other music equipment. Moog was diagnosed with a glioblastoma multiforme (brain tumor) on 28 April 2005, and died in August of that year.

Yes ... and ... No.
Although the techniques for playing both are similar, the touch and feel of each is quite different. One is a mechanical instrument and the other is electronic. Read on:
"Keyboard" alone usually makes reference to an electronic instrument that has keys much like an organ or piano, and produces its sound through an amplifier and speaker(s).
"Piano" alone usually makes reference to a percussive instrument that requires physical exertion (energy) to create sounds, the tones from vibrating strings.
Although the sound that each makes may be similar, there is a huge difference between playing a keyboard and playing a piano ... they are not the same.

ICT has impacted entertainment and leisure by enhancing the different ways in which we casually spend our time. With the use of these technologies, they ways in which we can entertain ourselves has dramatically increased.
The development of these technologies has meant that many people stay inside, watch TV, play online games etc. Therefore you could say that the amount of leisure activities that people do have decreased, with respect to the wide range of entertainment technologies.
